This is another install I had the fortune of doing for a client, but this is also an instance of talking about Home Warranties. This started as a home warranty service call. I found a bad blower motor and the housing had been damaged from running so long with an imbalanced motor. I priced out for replacement through the warranty. They said it would take 2 days to get approval or disapproval. The A/C system was not working. It took 4 days altogether, and they did not approve the repair.
Ultimately they settled on a replacement because it was a 19-year-old system and putting over $1,000 into it was not worth it. I replaced the system with a new Goodman with 10-year parts and a 1-year labor warranty. They quit the home warranty and fought to get their money back, but in the end, they learned a valuable lesson. You can’t expect to give someone $400 and then turn around and they pay $1,000 to repair something. What does work is the new Goodman system I installed, and with a proper professional installation, they will have fewer problems in the future.
