
I replaced a UV bulb today for a client. UV lights are important in the aspect of clean air and health, but only as a means of prevention. In other words, you can not have a mold issue (especially a visible mold issue) and expect a UV light to fix or remediate the mold. You can however install a UV light before you ever have a mold problem and there is a much better chance you will never have a mold issue. Though there is still a… You have to replace the bulb according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. Most bulbs are recommended once a year to maintain their UV rating. Others are once every two years. Either way, you have to keep track of it to keep mold away.
On a side note, UV lights can also keep away dirty sock syndrome!
